A Bronx mother who killed her young son and left her daughter severely injured on a sidewalk after cutting their throats has been sentenced to decades in prison, officials announced Wednesday.

Shanice Martin, 24, formerly of Seward Avenue in Castle Hill, will spend between 30 years to life in prison for the murder of 6-year-old Tyzavier Martin at the corner of Brook Avenue and Washington Avenue on April 27, 2019, following a struggle with the boy, according to Bronx DA Darcel Clark.

On that day, Martin attacked her son with a box cutter, then turned on her 2-year-old daughter, slashing her throat and side, Clark said. She left the children severely injured on the sidewalk in pools of their own blood.

After committing these horrifying acts, Martin walked to the 42nd Precinct station house, still covered in blood with the blade in hand, and confessed to the police, sources told The Post at the time.

“Go ahead and arrest me,” she reportedly said.

Martin, described as homeless with a history of mental health issues and child abuse, was charged with multiple crimes and taken to Lincoln Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation. The children were transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital for treatment and were eventually discharged.

However, nearly two months later, the boy collapsed in the cafeteria of PS/MS 5 in Port Morris while waiting for pizza. Witnesses reported seeing blood and foam coming from his mouth. Investigators later determined his death to be a homicide, attributing it to asphyxia caused by an obstructed airway from a neck wound.

“The defendant committed an incomprehensible act of cruelty and heartlessness against her own children, slashing them and leaving them on a street corner to die,” Clark stated in a Wednesday release. “A young boy lost his life, and his sister survived the brutality but continues to suffer its effects.”

Martin faced charges of second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder, both of which she was found guilty of by a jury last month. On Wednesday, Bronx Supreme Court Justice Laurence Busching sentenced her to consecutive terms of 20 years to life for the murder and 10 years for the attempted murder, Clark confirmed.
