Celebrate ‘Barn in the USA’ at the Otoe County Fair from July 25-28!

SYRACUSE – The Otoe County Fair will be held from July 25 to 28, featuring the theme “Barn in the USA” and various open class events.

The Janky to Swanky contest invites Otoe County adults to find a janky item on July 8 and transform it into a swanky item by July 24.

Barn quilts, made from wood painted boards with quilt designs, will be entered on Wednesday.

The fruit pie contest entries are from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at the Kimmel south hall.

A special salsa contest is set for county residents aged 10 and older, with entries on Friday from 5:30 to 6 p.m.

Events kick off on Sunday, July 21, with the 4-H dog show at 6 p.m.

Thursday, July 25

  • 8 a.m. – 4-H horse show
  • 8 a.m. – 4-H & FFA sheep
  • 4-6 p.m. – 4-H exploration
  • 5:30-6 p.m. – Fruit pie contest
  • 6 p.m. – 4-H fashion show
  • 6 p.m. – Pony cycle races
  • 7:30 p.m. – Balloon Warz
  • 4-9 p.m. – Rockit Event Pros

Friday, July 26

  • 8 a.m. – 4-H, FFA, open class rabbit show, 4-H companion animals
  • 8 a.m. – FFA beef show, 4-H beef show
  • 4-6 p.m. – 4-H exploration
  • 5:30-6 p.m. – Salsa contest entry
  • 6 p.m. – Lil’ tugger tractor pull
  • 7:15 p.m. – 4-H specialty food auction
  • 7:30 p.m. – Farmer Olympics
  • 4-9 p.m. – Rockit Event Pros

Saturday, July 27

  • 8 a.m. – 4-H, FFA swine shows
  • 8 a.m. – 4-H, FFA, open class poultry show
  • Noon – Antique tractor show
