Otoe County Sheriff’s Office to Intensify Speeding Law Enforcement

NEBRASKA CITY – The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a high-visibility enforcement from July 12 to July 31, focusing on speeding laws.

According to a sheriff’s office press release, speeding is a significant factor in traffic crashes, with law enforcement frequently encountering speeds over 100 mph.

The National Highway Safety Office reports that 12,151 people died in speeding-related traffic crashes in 2022. Speeding contributed to 29 percent of all fatal crashes nationwide.

In Nebraska, over 569 people were injured or killed in speeding-related crashes in 2023.

The mobilization is funded by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
