A 26-year-old woman from Pennsylvania tragically drowned after she was carried over a waterfall on the east side of Glacier National Park, according to park officials.

The incident happened on Sunday evening, around 5:20 p.m., when the woman fell into the water above St. Mary Falls. She was swept over the 35-foot (11-meter) tall waterfall and got stuck underwater for a few minutes, as stated by the park.

Onlookers pulled her out of the water and performed CPR until emergency help arrived. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at 7 p.m., according to park authorities.

The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are being looked into, and there are plans for an autopsy.

Her identity is being kept private until her family can be informed.
